Mr. Roizman was arrested in August 2022. On the day of the detention several dozen local residents came to the city center and held a “silent protest action” in support of the politician, sitting on the steps of the Lenin monument. One of the participants in this action was subsequently arrested for 15 days.
Russian authorities accused the co-founder of the City-Without-Drugs Foundation and former mayor of Yekaterinburg, Yevgeny Roizman, of “discrediting” the Russian army and sentenced him on May 18, 2023 to a fine of 260 thousand rubles for using the words “invasion”, “war” and “ridge” .
