We sometimes discuss what is happening with a friend.
He asks me: “Could you imagine a year and a half ago that life would be like this in Russia?”
Irina spoke up against hate speech in a coffee shop and was fined for discrediting the Russian army.
On April 5, a resident of Moscow, Irina (name changed at the request of the heroine) was fined 30,000 rubles under an article about “discrediting” the Russian army. A man in a coffeeshop started to swear about Ukrainians loudly and Irina challenged him, reminding that many Russians have relatives and friends in Ukraine. He called the police, who were there after 10 minutes. The authorities checked her social media and found nothing. Later the same man returned to the police and showed them an Instagram post, where Irina asked if it would be good to send untrained people into a war. She was fined for that.
