Holod is a Russian online medium founded in 2019 by journalist Taisiya Bekbulatova. Opinion pieces, reports, podcasts and videos on current social and political issues appear on Holod.
Initially, Bekbulatova financed the medium out of her own pocket, but later came investors whose names are kept secret. Holod also works on a donation basis and tries to generate advertising revenue.
At the end of 2021, Bekbulatova was declared a so-called foreign agent, and the website has been blocked in Russia since April 2022.
