The staff of the Institute for the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences expresses its indignation at the unbridled slanderous campaign that was launched in the domestic media after the publication of an article by Valery Garbuzov in Nezavisimaya Gazeta dated August 29, 2023.
All the facts presented in Vladimir Solovyov’s broadcast dated August 30, 2023 and replicated in the media space are built on outright lies, presented in the form of disgusting classic Goebbels propaganda, which produces an extremely pitiful and wretched impression.
False, groundless and demonstratively exaggerated accusations against the ISKRAN scientific team and its leader are nothing more than a crude and mediocre attempt to strike a blow at the scientific school of Russian American studies, which has been created for decades, and has proven itself all over the world, with the aim of discrediting it.

Valery Garbuzov joined the U.S. and Canada Studies Institute (ISKRAN) in 2000 and became its director in 2016. The institute is considered one of Russia’s leading think tanks on U.S. matters, particularly during the Soviet period when it exerted significant influence on Moscow’s foreign policy. Today, ISKRAN employs more than 130 people, including 85 research experts.
